Protective Gas Mixing System

In order to prevent molten magnesium from reacting with the ambient air, the melting furnace is designed with a tight cover and protective gas is applied to the surface of the melt. The protective gas mixing takes place in the gas mixing unit. Here, a carrier gas is mixed with the actual protective gas and the mixed gas is provided to the furnace in the set quantity and concentration. An exact mixing ratio of the gas is ensured even with fluctuating inlet pressures, thus ensuring safety. The flow rates and pressures of the protective gas are also constantly checked and the system is consequently monitored for leaks.

The system shows the following advantages:
  • High-precision mixing through mass flow control
  • Full integration into the Meltec magnesium dosing system
  • Redundant system guarantees safety in the event of a power failure
